Killer Fun Ranked: A Survivor Main's Perspective
Hey there, fellow Dead by Daylight enthusiasts! If you're anything like me, you spend a significant chunk of your time trying to survive the night against some seriously terrifying killers. But let's be honest, while winning is always the goal, sometimes the fun factor of a match trumps everything. As a survivor main, I've faced down countless killers, and I've developed a pretty strong opinion on who makes the game the most enjoyable (or dread-inducing, depending on your perspective!). So, buckle up, because I'm about to unveil my personal tier list, ranking killers based on how much fun they are to go up against. This list isn't about power or effectiveness; it's all about the thrill, the chase, and the sheer entertainment value. Let's dive in!
The S-Tier: Pure Joy and Mayhem
This tier is reserved for the killers who consistently deliver the most exhilarating and memorable experiences. These are the encounters that leave you grinning, even when you're hooked. They bring something unique to the table, making every match feel like a high-octane adventure. It's important to remember that this tier list is based on personal preference as a survivor. This means the S-tier killers are the ones that I, as a survivor main, find the most engaging and enjoyable to play against, regardless of how strong they are in the meta.
The Hillbilly
Oh, the Hillbilly! This chainsaw-wielding maniac is a blast to go up against. His unpredictable rushes, the heart-stopping chainsaw rev, and the occasional misjudgment that sends him crashing into a wall – it's all part of the charm. The Hillbilly creates moments of pure adrenaline. You're constantly calculating, listening for that telltale buzz, and trying to predict his next move. A good Hillbilly makes you feel like you're in a high-speed chase scene from a movie, and the satisfaction of juking him is immense. While the Hillbilly might not be the strongest killer, the fun factor is undeniable.
The Hag
The Hag is another killer that lands squarely in the S-tier for me. Her trap-laying style forces survivors to think strategically about their movements. Playing against a Hag is like navigating a minefield, with every step potentially triggering a terrifying jumpscare. The tension builds with every trigger, and the feeling of narrowly avoiding a trap is incredibly satisfying. A skilled Hag player creates a web of terror that's both challenging and incredibly fun to outsmart. Plus, the visual design and the creepy atmosphere she creates adds to the overall experience. This killer also gives you so many chances to learn the map, always putting you on your toes.
The Nurse
Yes, even the Nurse makes it to S-tier. Now, before you start throwing tomatoes, hear me out. A skilled Nurse is a force to be reckoned with, but facing one is a true test of your survivor skills. The mind games, the blinks, and the constant need to predict her movements make every encounter a mental battle. Surviving against a Nurse feels like a legitimate accomplishment. The skill ceiling on this killer is incredibly high, so when you manage to outplay a Nurse, the satisfaction is unlike any other. However, if she is facecamping, it is not fun, however, a skilled nurse who is moving around the map and engaging in chases is something special.
The A-Tier: A Great Time to be Had
The A-tier killers are those who consistently provide engaging and enjoyable gameplay experiences. They are well-designed, have interesting mechanics, and usually lead to exciting chases and mind games. These killers offer a healthy balance of challenge and fun, making matches feel dynamic and rewarding. These are the killers I'm always happy to see in a lobby, because I know I'm in for a good time.
The Deathslinger
The Deathslinger is a unique killer, and his ability to reel in survivors creates some of the most intense and unpredictable moments in the game. The tension of being speared and yanked towards him is palpable, and the opportunity to make daring escapes adds a layer of excitement. Facing a Deathslinger is all about precision and quick thinking. You must use the environment to your advantage, and learn to dodge his spear. The chase feels fresh and different compared to many other killers, and the satisfaction of breaking free or successfully looping him is very rewarding. It is one of the most mechanically interesting killers, but if the killer is not good, it can be a little boring.
The Oni
The Oni is a powerhouse of a killer, and his aggressive playstyle is a perfect balance of fun and terror. The Oni is all about aggression and momentum, and facing one is a whirlwind of intense chases and brutal downs. A skilled Oni can create an unstoppable force. The sound design is great and adds to the experience. The Oni, when played well, is so much fun because you can try to dodge him and run in different directions to avoid the wrath of the demon. The Oni's mechanics require a high degree of skill, and the thrill of outmaneuvering him is incredibly satisfying.
The Spirit
The Spirit can be a very challenging opponent, but when played well, she is a lot of fun to verse. The mind games and the anticipation of her phasing make for some intense moments. Predicting her movement and figuring out her trajectory is a fun and difficult challenge. You're always listening for the telltale sounds of her phasing and trying to guess her location. The feeling of outsmarting a Spirit is exhilarating. However, facing a Spirit who is heavily reliant on headphones to 'hear' your footsteps can sometimes feel less interactive and more frustrating. I like to be able to hear where she is, and then strategize to survive, but when she can hear me through walls, it doesn't give me the same chance to evade her.
The B-Tier: Solid and Entertaining
These killers are solid choices and provide a generally enjoyable experience. They have some unique mechanics or playstyles that can make matches interesting, but they might lack the pure, unadulterated fun factor of the higher tiers. The B-tier killers are the ones you don't mind seeing in a match, as they offer a balanced and engaging experience.
The Trapper
The Trapper is a classic, and his trap-laying style can lead to some hilarious and unexpected moments. There's always the chance of a misstep, and the sudden realization that you've sprung a trap can be both terrifying and amusing. A good Trapper will force you to be aware of your surroundings and make you strategize your movements. You're constantly checking corners, looking for traps, and trying to avoid his deadly contraptions. While some find him a little basic, the Trapper's simplicity can be refreshing and provide some classic Dead by Daylight fun. While the Trapper might not be the most complex killer, he is still a good time.
The Wraith
The Wraith, or
